Off-season TODOs for N824T

Posted in Uncategorized on November 24, 2011 by Tom
The off-season is here. We may not be flying, but that doesn’t mean that N824T is going to stay in the box all winter…

  1. Canopy replacement
Somehow a big crack got in there! Ah well…
  2. Aileron bushing replacement
Aileron play is currently right at limits specified in the manual. New bushings will replace the worn ones and eliminate the play.
  3. Cockpit rewiring
Old wiring needs replacement, particularly aft of the stick. New wiring will make it easier to listen to the radio.
  4. Panel replacement/tilt-up mechanism installation
Our mechanic has a panel mold for S-H gliders. We’ll be designing a new panel that does a better job of accommodating various gadgets—and tilts up for easier cockpit ingress/egress.
  5. Aileron/flap/possibly stabilator resurfacing
Finish cracking on these surfaces is considerable, with fiber visible at some corners.
  6. Replace ZG decals with i
The new contest ID for N824T is “I”. We plan to render this as an italic serifed i, evoking the imaginary unit (i.e. the square root of -1).
Thankfully we have a great mechanic who can help us out with all of this stuff!
